July 9th, 2020 - Polling in the name ofPoll day! I'm currently prototyping the gem scanner dedicated to recuts, trying to make it small enough to bring along with a laptop. I'm aiming for an integrated transfer system, and your needs as recutters will have a huge implication on this possibility. So I polled a few of the gem cutting groups on facebook. The big question was : "Do you always keep the existing table plane when recutting?" The answers I got from the community averaged to 76% YES, 13% NO, 1% SAYWHUT? There were a lot of in-depth comments, describing what situations you guys encounter and how you address them. But most of the times the problem will be a bulgy pavillion, a window, whatever, but the plane table can be kept. Thanks a lot for your feedback! Tom, a.k.a. Ludwig Von Sodabowski |
